For prospective patients: As a general rule, I do not prescribe or recommend medications until I have assessed how you understand the meaning of taking psychotropic medications because I believe this has a major impact on their efficacy and incidence of side effects.  I may continue a medication if it is one you were previously prescribed and I believe the current benefits outweigh the risks, and/or you are interested in working towards reducing the number or dosage of your medications. In some situations, I may recommend that your medications are prescribed by a different provider, for instance if you are interested in starting psychoanalysis with me. Please note that at this time, I do not prescribe medications that are considered controlled substances by the DEA which include benzodiazepines and stimulant medications.
